Our Community
Jesus Community Church is located in Stevensville, Montana. Stevensville is a small community with a population of around 2,000 people. And although we draw from all over the
county, that wider area only has a population of around 50,000 people. Our location reminds us daily of God's great blessings and humbles us with His handiwork which surrounds us.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
For you are with me;
Your rod and your staff they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Our Pastor -- Glenn Van Note
Glenn graduated from Southwestern College of Christian Ministries in 1992 with a BS in Pastoral Ministries. He spent several years working as a video/television editor, computer technician, and business owner. At the same time, God has led him through years of youth ministry, teaching of children and adults, marriage ministry, and pastoral ministry. He began full-time pastoral ministry at Jesus Community Church in July of 2012, after serving in that same church for over seven years as a teacher, deacon, and eventually an elder. The passion of his ministry has always been integrity to the Word of God. His heart is to teach his family and the Body of Christ to know the Word and through the Word to increase in the knowledge of the Lord.
Our Musical Talent
We are blessed with multiple gifted musicians. The Munnell family blesses us with singing voices, piano, and violin. Many others play guitar and sing. And our youth even try their hands on special occasions. Our music worship rings with a joyful noise.
Our Missionaries
The McDaniel Family
Tepic, Mexico
Hello! We are Kevin, Imelda, Milla, Alexandra and Ariana McDaniel.
We strive, first and foremost, to be servants of Jesus Christ!
In 2016 we obeyed the Lord's call to fulfill the great commission in Central Mexico.
With the support of our sending church Jesus Community Church in Stevensville, Montana, and a handful of other praying believers, we came down here not knowing fully what God had planned for us, just that we believed in our hearts that He wanted us to come!
We were originally invited to serve at an orphanage in Tepic, Nayarit called Casa de Niños (House of Children).
We served there for the first 6 months or so, then started to feel that God wanted us to begin moving in another direction. There is a God-fearing couple that has been working to build a ministry/business that would be a financial help to Casa de Niños, and also be a place for missionaries, pastors, etc to relax and rejuvenate.
The ministry is called Fishin' Mission Adventures. It is a sport bass fishing business located about 50 miles from Tepic on Aguamilpa reservoir.
It is very remote and "off-grid" (although we do have solar power and internet), and surrounded by very rugged mountainous terrain. These mountains are populated by an indigenous people group called the Huichol. They speak their own language which pre-dates the arrival of the Spanish! Many of them speak Spanish as a second language, but the further one travels into the mountains, the less Spanish is spoken. Over the last year, Fishin' Mission Adventures has begun to reach out and get to know some of our Huichol neighbors, and we have discovered that there is a village about 20 minutes by boat, followed by a 30 minute hike, where there is a decent sized Christian community! We have been able to help them out a bit by providing many of them with paying work doing construction and other projects on the ministry property. This has helped immensely in our quest to build relationships!
The Huichol are largely un-reached with the gospel, and are steeped in ancient native religion including much witchcraft, animal and nature worship, and it is often mixed up with a twisted form of Catholicism. As a result, there is a palpable spiritual oppression, and resistance to the gospel. Ephesians 6:12 comes to mind often!
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places". KJV
In the interest of being a more effective witness, I feel the Lord is leading me to begin learning the Huichol language. It is not easy! But God, through the prayers of our faithful prayer warriors, has provided a tutor for me who is a native pastor, and is very excited in my interest!
We still serve part time at the orphanage, but our main focus at this time is up at the lake. We live in a very poor neighborhood on the outskirts of Tepic, and are involved in a local church. We enjoy visiting with our neighbors and seeking out opportunities to actively pursue them for the gospel! It has been interesting to see how people's perceptions change over time as they get to know us! (many Mexicans assume that all Americans are rich, racist snobs)
Thank you for taking the time to read this and get to know us a little bit! We encourage you to seek out opportunities to share the gospel where ever God has you!
